Introductions
One of the themes running through this unit is the potential for networked media to connect people with each other - along with the countervailing danger that people end up cocooned in their own networked-but-isolated spaces, lacking face-to-face contact.

I’m one of the lecturers for this unit, and I’ll be taking some workshops too. I’m one of the founders of Icelab. I’m online at michaelhoney.com, but more regularly on Tumblr.
I went to your university, and studied the same degree as you. Now I work with Michael and Max at Icelab.
I’ll be giving a lecture or two and taking some workshops.
Sometimes I tumble things, and find del.icio.us pretty handy.
I originally went to ANU doing a similar degree but sort of an arts version of it - New Media Arts. I didn’t feel that ANU was a place for me so I made the transition over to UC after 1 semester. From my experience, I see that UC offer more relevant units and learning outcomes associated to what I want - & who goes to uni to do a lame ass arts degree anyways lol. Upon graduating I hope to get a job with a production company/tv station overseas in Southeast Asia - goin’ back to my roots ;-)
As the possessor of two quote lame-ass unquote arts degrees (BA, MLitt), I’m not sure what to say…
Hey all,
I’m Vivian. Doing my 2nd year of uni, double degree on B of communication in media/multi-media production and B of arts in international studies.
It’s complicated to explain where I’m from but to make things simple 50% Japanese, 25% Cantonese and 25% American, born in England. I’ve lived in many different countries before. I speak 4 languages fluently and understand most European languages.
Am into German expressionism, film noir, old school music (mainly 60’s-70’s), love to paint. Would like to list all my interests here but I’m lazy so check out my website.
Also highly recommend everyone to check out one of my favourite artists here, Michael Hussar. The talent and details = win!
Hi all, I am Tony and I am from Vietnamese origin, but french backgrounds and I spent most of my life in New Caledonia.
I hope this unit will be fun but also challenging.
Concerning the blog, I hardly ever maintained one and I think this unit will somehow make me do it ^.^
Anyways, heres my blog (probably blank at this stage): http://blog.nosaventures.net/
Hi there, my name is Guan Yi ZHAO. Well, you can call me Antony, this solves the “pronunciation” problem (^_^). I’m now doing my second year in Bachelor of Arts & Communication in Media/Multimedia Production.
As self experience, I’ve done lyric writing for almost 8 years (however, it’s in Chinese, not English.), and almost 2 years of song writing (honestly, I’m not very good at it.). I have earned some skills with a music writing studio called “Overture” and of course with some other software such as Photo Shop, Ulead Video Studio (it is similar with Final Pro Cut), etc. And I’ve done some drama acting classes and singing (contemporary style in tenor vocal range) classes before uni.
For that blog I posted, I’ve been managing it for 2 years. However the text script is in Chinese, so doubt that everyone can see it. I’ll find a new blog for this unit, and I’ll post it up as soon as possible.
In addition, I also play piano and draw cartoons as my interests.
I’m an enthusiastic, energetic, sociable kind of girl who enjoys experiencing new things, socialising and going on adventures. I try to bring these traits into my dull office cubicle, though some paper work can never be enjoyable. I started off my uni life wanting to work in advertising but since dabbling into media all of a sudden the world of advertising just doesn’t seem enough. I’m looking forward to the challenges of this unit, hopefully some day soon I will be able to use these skills in the workplace. Oh and I prefer to be called Suz.
Hi everyone, Im Soyeon Park. I was born in Korean but I spent my childwhood in Japan.. and now I live in Australia.. I have just changed the course from marketing communication to multimedia… Im realli looking forward to study this course.. :D
Hi I’m Lou, I’m a mature aged student who decided to go and study because I was sick of doing crap jobs for crap money. I’ve spent the majority of the last ten years travelling the world as I feel you can learn as much from travelling as you can from studying, only it doesn’t pay as well. I have started my degree here but I’m hoping to transfer down to a uni in Melbourne at the end of year as I only came to Canberra temporarily.
Hey I’m Bee. I’m from near a little village called Bulga which is near a mining town named Singleton which is about an hour from Newcastle in the Hunter Valley, North of Sydney.
I defered and worked at a restaurant in the vineyards where I met some cool people from all over the world, last year. Then in February I came to Canberra for some learnin’.
I’m a big book-reading, music-loving, film-watching nerd. Currently reading ‘Everything is Illuminated’ by Jonathan Safran Foer. Read it damn it. I spend way to much money on concerts, case in point: Splendour in the Grass next weekend. My excuse for watching movies instead of doing uni work is that I’m a media/multimedia student. If I can raise the funds I’m hoping to go to Mexico and Cuba at the end of the year but my afore-mentioned cash guzzeling vice may put the brakes on that.
‘Sup, I’m Nurie. I spent way too much time agonizing over what to write in this box. I am a diplomat brat - born in America, lived in England twice, with a couple of South East Asian countries in the mix. I am however, of Malaysian heritage.
I have a webdomain that has yet to be filled with anything useful, save a former school assignment. Eventually I intend to use it as a portfolio of sorts, as it is my wish to be a graphic designer.
If you Google my name, you’ll come across the wikipedia page for a logo I designed for the open source IM client Carrier. (It’s supposed to be a duck.) But you’ll also come across a poorly drawn pseudo political “comic” I drew in Year 12 for some competition. I didn’t know my teacher would actually submit it! ;_;
Hi im Tim, doing a degree in media/multimedia, im originally from Newcastle. I started a degree in Communications at The University of Newcastle and transfered to UC at the start for the year.
Hello… I’m Gracie, was born in Japan, grew up in Indonesia. 50% japanese, 50% indo. Some people call me “Stumpy”, it’s probably because i’m really short. But whatever. I’m doing my 2nd year of Media Production and very enjoying it, still. I did my advance diploma of Digital Media/Multimedia at CIT in 2004. It was a lot of hard work, but fun, and i loved it.. Work parttime at the Hellenic Club. I am into art photography and music. A huge fan of Harry Potter, Bjork and Happy Treefriends (sound silly, really >,<)
Hey hey
I’m Gerard. This is my first year at uni. The overall experience has been good. However i have changed from B of Information Tech to B of communication in multimedia. I am a Irish/El salvadorian born in Australia.I do a bit of indoor rockclimbing, i like cycling and just hanging with friends.

not much to my life, just drifting through life …
Hi my name is Rosanna and I am from Griffith NSW. Moved to Canberra at the start of this year and am currently doing a bachelor of graphic design. I am into photography and am hoping this unit won’t be at all too hard as I chose it as an elective.
I am an American exchange student from Colorado. I am used to this cold weather being from the mountains. I love Australia so far! I am a fourth year student as a communications major and I love all elements of this degree thus far. I don’t know a lot bloggin but I’ll give it a shot!
Hi everyone,
My name is Adam Kennedy, I have studied Media Production at CIt and HAve worked at the ABC recording sound for the news and currently work for Media Monitors as a studio tech. I am looking forward to expand my knowledge of the interweb and how to contribute to it.
I have added my newly created (today) blog, feel free to visit!
Hey everyone,
I’m a Canberra local, but my family is from Colombia originally. I went to ANU straight out of school and ended up leaving with 4/5th of an Arts degree which at the time seemed a little dissapointing but actually worked out well because now that I’m doing the double degree Arts/Media Produciton, half of it is already in the can!
Anyway, I’ve been doing live music/gig photography for a while, and am interested in music and film and all their possible combinations.
Music takes up a large part of my time, both listening, playing, and searching out new and obscure sounds that are popping up all over the world!. I’ve recently been getting into Kudro, a type of club music from Angola, Africa.
I’ve also been obsessed with the films of Alejandro Jodorowsky.
This year I’ve stared organising some reggae events in Canberra to try and get some of the bands and music I like played here. The music scene is ACT is good but small!
I’m hoping to go on student exchange to Mexico City next semester.
Oh I’m also the moron who left his mobile phone on in the first lecture, but I can see that I’m not alone!
I forgot I even had a blog on this site. So here it is. I will be using it as my progress blog throughout the unit. Michael, sorry for the comment I left earlier, I wrote about it on my blog ;-)
I am Dylan!
I am in my third year of multimedia/international studies. I am also studying mandarin =).
I’m a first year student of Media & Multimedia production. I’m new to blogging and not a fan of social networking sites. This is my blog at wordpress.com - http://philmilne.wordpress.com/
Hi,
I’m Seb and am currently in my first year of uni and am doing a degree on Communication in Media/Multi-Media production.
If the other link doesnt work, try this one!
This is Dylan. Again. I remembered the details to my wordpress account. So, visit me at wordpress, and not at blogger. =)
I am a third year international studies/multimedia student who ran out of classes to take! I ended up here, in Networked Media production and I am pumped!
I am not sure what occupation I might jump into at the end of my time in this degree…. My intentions prior to starting here at UC were to ‘float’ whilst learning about what I am interested in, more so than what kind of job i might have after….
Hi, Last semester of Comms media/multi media prod & Tv production. I am really ready to graduate! I am doing this as an elective so hope its going to be interesting yet easy so I don’t fail. Hope to you around
What’s poppin? My names Alasdair and I’m a first year student studying media/multimedia production. I love to tell stories and feel that film is the perfect medium to get my messages and thoughts out there and understood.
I’m from Sydney, north shore, Hornsby Area and went to Barker College last year. Between school and uni I managed a hobby farm/horse legistment property and I loved it. My mate and I opened a business in the holidays called Wolf Performance. We specialize in customizing Japanese Domestic Market (JDM) cars for racing, drifting and cruising. We have our own workshop and things are going great for a business thats been opened for only a month. To check out our website please go to wolfperformance.com.au and check it out!
Well i’m a Sydney boy, straight down from the north shore. I’m a musician to be blunt, i think, see and breathe it. I’m currently in a couple of bands, a folk blues band in Melbourne called “Pappa’s Well” of which i play guitar and sing. and a canberra based Rock n roll band, whom we have no name, except the temporary one of Becazine. I sing my little lungs out for these guys. Hopefully we will be rocking the circuit soon enough. any i also give lessons, vocal and guitar. so if you feel like you wanna get your groove on just let me know.
